Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
